Tapping and countersinking
CNC tapping in the same setup as the cut. This ensures quality, accuracy and speed.
Production time Add 1 – 2 days
Thin material gets up-formed first, raising a collar around the hole with enough depth to take a full thread.
Countersinking lets hardware sit flush so nothing catches and nothing wears.
Inserts are fitted in house where a thread is needed in material too thin to tap, or where the joint will be assembled and disassembled repeatedly.

Tapping and countersinking questions
Common questions
What thread sizes can you tap?
Most common metric threads. Specify the size on your drawing and we will confirm it with your quote.
Can you tap thin sheet?
Yes. We up-form the hole first, raising enough material for a full thread even on thin gauge.
Do I need to mark threads on my drawing?
Yes. Mark the hole and the thread size you want. If in doubt, email it to us and we will check it before you order.
