01Who you are dealing with
This site is operated by Metal Parts Pty Ltd (ABN 73 702 641 441). All parts are manufactured in Australia.
By placing an order you agree to these terms. Please read them, because custom manufactured parts work differently to ordinary retail goods.
02Quotes
Prices are generated automatically from the file you upload, the material and thickness you select, the quantity, and your delivery address.
The price you are quoted is fixed. Freight is calculated by delivery zone and included in that figure, payable in the same transaction. There is no second invoice.
A quote is valid for 30 days from the date it is issued. Steel and aluminium pricing moves, so quotes are not held open indefinitely.
We may decline or re-quote a job if the supplied file cannot be manufactured as drawn, for example features smaller than the material thickness, geometry outside our bed size, or open contours we cannot resolve. We will tell you before charging you.
03Your files and your right to make the part
You keep all intellectual property in the files you upload. We claim no ownership of your designs and we do not manufacture your parts for anyone else.
You warrant that you own the design, or otherwise have the right to have it made. You agree to indemnify us against any claim that manufacturing your part infringes someone else’s rights.
We will not knowingly manufacture firearm components, parts intended to defeat safety systems, or anything unlawful.
04Tolerances and what a manufactured part actually looks like
This is the section most disputes come from, so it is worth reading properly.
- Laser cutting produces a kerf. Cut dimensions are held to the tolerances published on our finish, tolerances and design rules page, which vary with material and thickness.
- Formed and folded parts carry bend allowance and springback. Bend angle tolerance is ±1° per bend, with a linear tolerance on each bent dimension. Tolerances stack across multiple bends.
- Cut edges may show a potential micro burr or a witness line. This is normal and is not a defect.
- Material arrives with mill tolerance on thickness, and may carry mill finish, handling marks or protective film. Sheet is not a cosmetic finished product unless you have ordered finishing.
- Unless you have specifically ordered deburring or edge rounding, parts are supplied as cut and edges may be sharp.
If your part has a critical dimension, tell us before you order. We can quote it as an inspected job.
05Orders, payment and GST
An order is formed when you accept a quote and payment is received. Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.
All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST unless stated otherwise. A tax invoice is issued on payment.
Because parts are made to your specification, production may begin immediately. See clause 07 before you order.
06Delivery
Freight is calculated by delivery zone and shown before you pay. Each process carries its own production window, shown on that service page, and they stack. Your confirmed dispatch date comes with your order confirmation.
Delivery estimates are estimates. We are not liable for delays caused by the carrier, weather, or events outside our control.
Risk in the goods passes to you on dispatch. Title passes on full payment.
Full detail is in our shipping and returns policy.
07Changes, cancellations and returns
Your parts are made to order from your file. Once production has started an order cannot be cancelled or changed, and custom parts are not returnable because you changed your mind, ordered the wrong size, or supplied the wrong file.
This does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If parts are faulty, not as ordered, or not of acceptable quality, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund. See our returns process.
08Our liability
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms attempts to exclude them.
Beyond those guarantees, and to the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim is limited to re-supplying the parts or refunding what you paid for them.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, downtime, or the cost of other work built around a part.
09Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, and you and we submit to the courts of that state.
